Are Chemical Peels Safe?

by Abbie Leave a Comment

No!
Would you BURN the upper layers of your heart, liver, or kidneys off? Kinda barbaric, yes? Do you know your skin is the largest organ in your body? Its main job is to protect the body against pathogens and excessive water loss. It is important that we PROTECT our skin’s barrier, not melt it off.

The much-desired “results” achieved from melting away the top layers of skin are not improvements to our skin, but inflammation and swelling (yes, your face is filled with puss) from the self-inflicted trauma created from the chemical peel. Swelling hides the skin’s imperfections (temporarily) until the inflammation starts to go down. What you are left with is damaged, broken down skin, and premature aging.

Understand that by creating inflammation in your skin, you are breaking down much needed collagen! In the long run, your skin will look worse, not better. It’s easy to be lured in by genius marketing and promises for more beautiful skin! I totally get it! But damaging your skin isn’t going to achieve the long term results you’re looking for. This approach is so outdated. We now know much more effective ways to reverse aging!!!!

One day, generations from now, they will look back and say “Wow, I can’t believe great grandma threw acid on her face in order to look younger!”

My Approach

My scientific approach revolves around identifying and addressing my client’s needs. Sometimes, the issues can be internal. Internal wellness plays a significant role in skin health. Many spas and product lines do not take a holistic approach in order to target internal balancing. With the right products in my skin arsenal, I am able to target several key skin needs: detoxing and repair, healing and nourishment, and balancing and protection. Rather than addressing skin issues externally, I take a corrective approach to your skincare combating and mitigating skin damage from the inside-out.
