I completely understand how confusing it is to understand what is good and not good for your skin. The internet is saturated with so much bad advice, false information, marketing hype, & skin myths. I honestly don’t know how the average skin care consumer can figure all of this out. I really try my best to educate all of you (my friends, family, clients and lovely acquaintances) because it’s hard for me to just overlook certain things.
I’ve had several new clients who recently started seeing me to help correct their skin and up until me changing their home care plan, they had been using hydrogen peroxide on their skin! I don’t blame THEM of course. They didn’t know how terrible this is for them!
So here’s the deal with hydrogen peroxide. As a mild antiseptic, it is one of the best ways to prevent infections in minor cuts and burns, but as a skin care product, it’s a horrible, terrible idea. Not only is hydrogen peroxide a common allergen that can result in inflammation and burning of the skin with prolonged use, it will decrease your skin’s ability to heal itself and strip away all of your skin’s protective barriers and moisture levels.
Now you know!
